Coach,
I wanted to say thanks for the energy and information that you brought to the VYI basketball coaches clinic yesterday. From open to close, you were dialed up and dialed in...I went home and had my two little kids doing M dribbles, red light/yellow light and Supermans...not quite the same speeds or amplitudes that your stallions demonstrated, but they enjoyed themselves!
At the end of what's either the first or second week of your season, and definitely after already running a morning session, I greatly respect the "oomph" you brought to the show...my colleague, Brad Drummond has told me you have a very positive fire to you; thanks for sharing a bit of it with us...it will trickle out to the hoopsters of Vienna and I'm grateful for that....
Good luck with the big guys and the little girls team!
Sincerely,
Pat McCloskey FAFS, MS, PES

Please accept our compliments and accolades for an outstanding experience that our son, John, had at Frostburg during the week of July 17-21. John has not stopped talking about his five days at the Wootten camp, both on and off the court.
The personal report card that he received from his coaching instructor equally impressed me. It was thorough and comprehensive. John has attended many camps (baseball and basketball) but the person whose name is on the signpost/letterhead/etc. never shows much less gets personally involved.
This was clearly not your approach and is iniative of the gentleman and coach named "WOOTTEN".
Thanks for conducting a great camp. We sure do wish you would consider a two-week camp or an interim camp to bridge the weekly camps. Five days was far too short for John!
My Personal Best,
Robert L Miller, Colonel USMCR(ret)
My son Daniel Day attended camp last wk...
7/8-7/12. He had an AWESOME experience n hasn't stopped talking about it! :)
Daniel is 17 n has been a serious bball player since he was 5yrs old!
This camp sharpened his current skills, while learning some new ones along the way!
As a parent I felt the peace of mind knowing he was safe n having lots of fun!
Your camp is very organized n things were well planned n flowed smoothly the entire week!
Check in n check out was quick n well planned! I appreciated the email that was sent to all parents mid-week letting us know what to expect n exactly what to do on check-out day!
Check-out was quick n easy! Parents were kept well informed!
I kept in contact with my son every evening he was so tired but very happy n positive! :)
We have highly recommended your camp to our friends n family n would not hesitate to come back again!
Thanks so much for offering the discount for returning campers!
An honorable mention goes out to Coach Joe Wootten n Daniel's coach...Coach Majors... He was on U.N.C. team!
Please feel free to share this email with other parents!
Thanks again for all you do each week for our children, you have a GREAT program!
Daniel has attended MANY bball camps....daily n extended n what your camp offers is SECOND TO NONE! :)
With Sincere Thanks,
The DAY Family,
Donnie, Jackie and Daniel :)
Please keep us on your mailing list...

I just wanted to express my deepest "thanks," for putting on such a wonderful camp!! My son, Jack Staub, attended your June 23 session and had the time of his life!! Jack has attended many camps, including Duke's basketball camp, WVU, local camps, etc. He plays ball for his school, as well as AAU. He said that your camp was "by far," the best he has ever attended!! He said that he also learned, as opposed to just being put on a team and playing. That makes this mama very happy!! I also have to thank Carol for her help on the administrative end. She was VERY helpful and so pleasant to deal with!! Thank you so much for offering such a great program for the kids. We have told many of our friends' about your camp. I'm sure my son will be coming back next year!! Keep up the good work.
With appreciation,
Ellen Staub
Wootten Team,
Rohan Karim had a great time and came back home very motivated. We would have registered him in another camp or two but it was usual that the timings didn't work for us. We will be back next year for at least two weeks. I am still hearing stories from Rohan re how great the coaches were. He loved getting up early in the morning, which is good progress, and just hanging around with the older coaches and boys. Rohan responds well to encouragement and seems to have received plenty.
Many thanks and we are already looking forward to next summer. Please keep us posted re any Spring Break Camps or clinics you may be offering.
Best regards,
Gordon Karim
I just wanted to let the camp know what wonderful care trainer Ms. Carita Logsdon provided to my son, Thomas Outing. On Tuesday July 10th, she contacted me to let me know that my son was running a very high fever. It is very alarming to learn that your child is sick when you are 2 1/2 hours away and to not be able to be there with them. However, because of the prompt and thorough care provided by Ms. Logsdon and the fact that she kept me informed of my son's condition the entire time as they went from Urgent Care to Western Maryloand Regional Medical Center, I was able to have a level of peace as my husband made his way to Frostburg. Knowing that my son was able to get such great care while attending your camp is really appreciated. Please let Ms. Logsdon know that all that she did that day for Thomas is greatly appreciated. You can rest assured that I would definitely recommend your camp to others and I would let them know what a wonderful staff that you have. Thanks again!!
Thomas and Kevin Outing, Parents of Thomas Outing Jr.
Hello,
I just wanted to say my son Tony Cirri really enjoyed his experience at your camp. He had a great time and could not stop talking about all the things he did and learned. He spoke highly of his coach Melvin. He shared many quotes and stories of inspiration. He was reading the poem “How We Defeat Ourselves” on the way home yesterday. I have no doubt that he will become a better player because of the things he learned. He thanked us last night for sending him to the camp and said he would love to attend again next year! Thanks for all do and the positive effect you have on so many children. I know he will remember winning the Allstar MVP award for many years to come. It meant a lot to him and us.
Sincerely,
Brenda & Tony Cirri
My son thoroughly enjoyed your camp. Nice job. Very well organized.
Bob Hallet
Once again, I think your staff did a great job! My son is exhausted, but, he had a very fun and productive week. He wants to return again next summer.
My son’s team was fortunate enough to make it to team finals for his age group (conference), and they won. It was a great feeling of accomplishment for him and his teammates. It was an extremely competitive game that could have gone either way, was decided with a basket in the last 5 seconds of game – very exciting. So while I was happy for my son and his team, was a tough loss for their opponent.
Thanks Again for a Great Week for My Son.
Joe Tuttle
Coach W: I hope your father recovers rapidly from his surgery!
My son had a great week, and I was impressed by his tales about the competition he faced! He is top dog in our neighborhood, and this exposure will motivate him to practice perfectly.
Coach Blaser worked with my son Ben-- what an impressive young man! Like all your staff he was engaging and bright.
Thank you for a great week!
Our son , Nick , loved it! He loved his counselors & the whole experience. His first comment on the first phone call to us was , "hey dad, they teach you about attitude." He especially loved learning the drills & playing the games. Overall it was a 10! Thanks for everything!
Nina Patton
Let me thank you all for a wonderful experience for my son. He came home full of enthusiasm and completely worn out. Pretty much the perfect combo in my book.
My boys Drew and Cameron Levine had a great time!!!!! They will definitely return next summer!!!! Both there teams made the championship games which was fun to watch!!! Have you guys ever thought about doing two weeks straight so they can stay there? Maybe have something different and fun to do over the weekend? Its just a way to far drive to go two different weeks thru out the summer. Anyway awesome week for sure!!!!!
Kim Levine
Coach Wootten and staff, I just wanted to say that I “TRULY” enjoyed the father and son camp held on June 15th and 16th at Frostburg State University. I really enjoyed the basketball instructions provided by Coach Wootten and staff. My son and I really had the opportunity to bond while staying in the dorms (no TV, radio, video games, etc.), competing in games, and going through basketball drills together. We also enjoyed meeting so many father and sons. The most impactful moment of the camp was when Coach Wootten separated the fathers and sons. Coach talked to the fathers about LETTING THEIR SONS FIND THEIR PASSION and not being one of those loud and unruly dads on the sidelines (just let your son play). That lesson will stick with me for a long time.
The fathers also bonded by collectively trying to compete against all the sons in games of 21. I’m sure the fathers were sore like me the next day (LOL)….
Thank you Wootten family for a wonderful camp. I will never forget this FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND….. I will be there next year.
Leonard Randolph, Jr.
I just wanted to thank the Wooten family and staff for the great camp. My son, Christopher Norman attended camp from June 23 to June 27th.
He learned so much from his experience that he is already looking forward to next year. Christopher spoke very highly of his coach, Nate, leader of the Indiana team. I met his coach and a few others. All were very polite, positive and encouraging. Not only is it a great camp, it was a place for him to meet new friends.
Thank you ever so much for making this a momentous event for him.
Best wishes on your remaining camps.
Kathleen Ostrowski
mom to Christopher Norman
This was my son Isaiah’s first experience at the Wooten Camp and was encouraged to attend by a friend. Isaiah absolutely loved the camp and is planning on coming back next year already. We just picked him up yesterday and he said he was ready to stay another week. My step son Stephen also joined him at camp and had an excellent time. Carol in the office was very helpful with all the questions we had before camp even started. The enrollment process the first day of camp was very smooth and organized and there was always someone there to answer all questions. My son’s team won the championship under the leadership of their coach “Uncle Buck” and he was a big hit with my son, very patient and helpful with every boy. My son loved the report card at the end to see what he had to improve on and what he did well. He already is practicing all the fundaments he learned and having them down on paper is very helpful.
We will definitely be back next year!!

Our three boys attend this camp every year - two are basketball players at very different levels and one is a hockey player but loves basketball nonetheless. This camp attends to the interests and needs of each young man - whether you are a rec league player, a high school/college hopeful or a hockey player looking for a good time. All three of our boys enjoy dorm life camaraderie, coaching enthusiasm and the constant activity and competition at all levels. The men that attend to these young adults are leaders for others - mature with perspective. Thank you for a camp environment that parents can trust with their young men.
Just got a text from my co-worker Richard, who said he and his son, Drew, had a FANTASTIC time at father/son camp this weekend!!
Thank you for continuing an awesome camp. While on the east coast, the four Alaska boys went
to **** Camp and *** Camp, and this is their favorite!!! Great all
around staff and we love the report cards of what they can work on. This will be Bruce's
fourth summer at Wootten. I enjoyed seeing him play the last day in the
tourney and he actually got to bring back some trophies!! So great.
That guest speaker last summer inspired his working
on his dunk AND ball handling!!
See you this summer!
Alberta Jones

Hi Carol,
Please pass along how much Chad enjoyed the camp this summer. He is looking forward to attending again next year...and probably every year thereafter! As a matter of fact, we have been doing quite a bit of cheerleading about the camp, so you may see an influx next year from Howard County!
My husband David has worked with Morgan in the past, and thinks he is simply one of the best coaches on the planet! He got a chance to chat with him again when we picked Chad up, and as always, really enjoyed speaking with him.
Take care and thanks again for your help with getting Chad registered. It was greatly appreciated.
Sherry Strothers
Good evening!
I am just having a chance to email you and I hope this email will find the correct person. My son is registered for week 5 and it will be his first week of any overnight camp. I was very worried and uneasy until last Thursday when I spoke to Kristen Bradley in your camp office. I thought you should know how helpful and calming she made me feel. She explained the camp, systems, seemed very knowledgeable of your program. Again, I just wanted to thank her and make sure you knew she was the reason I am still sending him to his first overnight camp.
See you in a few weeks!
Donna Caulfield
My son Cameron just finished up another week of camp this summer. He’s 12 now. I think this is the 6th year in a row that he’s gone to your camp – he started at the day camp when he was 6 or 7 years old, and has been to the sleep away camp for the past 3 or 4 years. Time flies. Last week, Cameron was one of 11 players from my AAU team that attended. All of the boys had a great week.
Thank you for the great work that you do. Looking forward to next year.
Ivan Galic
My son, Adrian Kombe, had a fantastic and productive time at your camp last week. So thank you to all of your staff who make this possible. He will definitely be there next summer!
My boys have attended either the day camp in Arlington or the overnight camp for seven years and we have always had the greatest experience with all of the personnel. Everyone is so helpful and accommodating – we truly appreciate it! Thank you!!
Karen
You have been wonderfully helpful Carol, and very kind while helping us.
This is our son's first time at your camp and you have set a great tone.
Thank you!
Jody Hughes
My 8 year old told me today the best camp he has gone to is the one he went to with me. It doesn't get any better than that. Thanks for the opportunity to create such great memories with my son!
I picked up my daughter and her friend from camp yesterday. They both had a great time and are excited about going back next year. So thanks for doing such a great job!!
thanks,
Darlene
Hi Coaches Wootten and Wootten:
My daughter attended the girls basketball camp session last week. She suffered a sprained ankle during the first few minutes of play on the first day. Training personnel were immediately providing care for her at courtside and subsequently in the training room. As a paramedic for nearly 30 years, I was impressed that the trainers were completely comfortable with working with me to assess and treat the injury. Their communication skillls were impressive. I was able to purchase an ankle brace and Hope used that during the week and successfully participated in the entire camp with continued care from the trainers. Their assessment skills were excellent.
I was very impressed with the care and support of the entire training staff. Please extend my appreciation to them for their professional care and treatment of my daughter's injury. Thank you for providing such professional medical support to the campers.
Your camp was a great experience for my daughter. She wants to return next year…… Kevin
Seth,
By the time you get this I will probably be long out of your mind. Today we met at Frostburg during the basketball camp and my wife and son had some questions about potentially changing leagues. I appreciate your willingness to listen and be attentive with my child (Michael) and listen to their concerns. I wanted to thank you and let you know that sometimes the little things make a big difference in the experiences not only of the kids, but also for the parents. Good luck in your upcoming season and hopefully camp is a success.
thanks,
Geoff Pisarra
Marino has been going to your local camp for 3 years now and it is his favorite camp ever! We have referred so many players to come to your camp (especially this year!) - we got boys to go to the overnight camp and 6 to go to the day camp.
Terri Lynn,
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your super quick and professional response yesterday when I fell on the steps at Frostburg.
Aside from being embarrassed, I was very worried about exactly what type of injury I had sustained.
Once home, I headed to the ER and your assessment was spot on -- no stitches needed and my nose was not broken, but I did have x-rays to confirm that all was okay.
Thankfully I just have abrasions and minor swelling on my face. My friend's daughter who fainted recovered as well.
Once again, many thanks for all you and your staff did to make a bad situation better!
Beth
Thank you, Carol.
By the way, I think you are possibly the most responsive camp/camp representative of any camp I've ever signed up my kids for. You do a wonderful job and make it so easy for parents like me to make changes or what have you.
Thank you!
Mayu
Hi Ms.Paul,
Ariana had a terrific time at the camp. In fact, Ariana has already penciled in her calendar for the next five years the dates of your camp.
Regards,
Will Phillips
Our daughter Laura Hollister just attended Coach Wooten's Camp again this summer and, as with each previous year, had a magnificent experience. She was honored to have outstanding coaches and great teammates, and she was delighted to be selected the Most Outstanding Camper for the week.
I have always been impressed with Coach Wooten Camp, not only for basketball but for the excellent overall experience it provides. I recommend the camp often to many of the families of my own students.
Thank you for another superb experience for Laura.
Best wishes, Randy Hollister
Hi Carol,
Thanks so much for your help. I hope the Woottens know what a wonderful job you do for them!
Respectfully,
Tracy Steigerwald
Hi Carol,
Thank you so much for all your help. Doug is having an absolute ball at your camp!! He’s a senior now so I guess this was his last opportunity to attend Coach Wootten’s Camp. We’re so glad we were able to send him. Its been a wonderful experience for him!! Thank you again for everything!
Patti
Thank you for providing a great experience for the kids. My son and his friends love it!
Charles Austin
Terri and Carol,
Although I spoke to Terri very briefly on Friday, I wanted to thank both of you for everything you do to make the camp run so smoothly, and to make things easy on the parents and coaches.
Every time I have e-mailed either of you, I recieved a prompt and responsive reply. I didn't appreciate how significant that was, until it hit me how daunting it must be to deal with between 2500 and 3000 campers and what I estimate is more than 250 coaches.
I presume that Joe does lots of the lifting on the basketball side, but what you two do, and so well, is nothing short of amazing. I suspect that the administrative side is much more difficult than the basketball side.
Your efforts are very much appreciated.
I wanted to let you know my son truly enjoyed the camp. He wants to come next year. He has improved his level of play.
Just wanted to say thanks for the great experience that my son, Nicholas Escoto had at the Wooten boys’ overnight camp. In the end, after his initial disappointment of being on a different team than his friend, he thoroughly enjoyed it and really grew from the experience. He said he liked being responsible, he loves basketball of course, and the desserts were great.
He was sorry that he didn’t get to say goodbye and thanks to his coach, Coach Donald. Nicholas really spoke highly of him and wanted him to know that he learned a lot from him. He said he was really nice.
Please include us on any mailing lists you might have for future camps:
Now his 8 year old brother wants to go next year. I don’t know how many parents actually let their 9 year olds go to the sleep away camp—yikes. Oh well, I guess I will have a year to worry about that!
Thanks again,
Carol Burchett
I appreciate you "making things right" and then some! It was a pleasure to meet you as well as so many members of your family, what a great family. Your Mom was a cutie pie, I had fun talking with her at the team shop. The program far exceeded my expectations, Colin is still on cloud 9 and sleeping in for a few days! Great memories for both Colin and I, looking forward to next year.
Thanks again, great job.
Jeff Nieberding
Dear Joe Wootten and staff,
I just want to thank you for the positive experience that my children are receiving at your camp. I called on Monday night after all 3 of my sons expressed dissatisfaction and/or shed tears over their experiences on the first day of camp. My husband and I were excited about their participation in the camp, so we were very surprised and disappointed by this reaction. I appreciate that you, Joe, took the time to call me right away to encourage me to have them return; they have in fact had better and better experiences with each passing day of the week. I also appreciate the important life-long lessons you are instilling in these boys by passing on some words of wisdom, by having speakers and by doing skits. Hopefully they will walk away with a fraction of what you have presented to them so they can put into practice these lessons as they become mature men and perhaps pass it on to the next generation. My husband and I are UCLA grads and also big fans of
John Wooden. Your lessons make us reflect upon those that Coach Wooden
taught his players. Kudos.
Sincerely,
Inga Middleton
Wootten Camp Staff:
Just a quick note to thank all of you for providing a wonderful basketball camp experience for our son, John Piper.
He had never been to a Wootten bball camp. He had an outstanding time, in part due to his "great" coach LJ (Ingabire). We will definitely look forward to your camps and clinics in the future. Please keep us on your email list.
Thank you,
John and Tracy Piper
Coach Wooten,
On behalf of our son, I'd like to commend you and your staff for our son's experience. He has learned a lot as a player but importantly as individual.
It made us proud to see him receive the highest award your camp has to offer. His grin was priceless. Again, I can't thank you enough. It is much appreciated and I look forward to many more years in his development through your program.
Carlos Abarca
Coach Wootten,
Thank you so much for hosting a great camp! I had a lot of fun! This was my first sleep away camp! I am a BIG mommy's girl and I did cry on the nights but I didn't go home early! I actually go to a catholic school in fairfax and my cousins go to PVI, bishop Ireton and O' Connell! My cousin Ian who goes to O' Connell went to your camp when he was little you might know him! thanks so much! Annie
My son Ryan Phillips attended your basketball camp this summer and I wanted to write and let you know just how much he enjoyed it. He has been to many camps but was so excited about the week he spent with you. He is even talking about wanting to be a referee at your camps next summer.
Thank you for a great camp.
Cathy Phillips
My son Drew and I attended the Father/Son camp over the weekend. We had a really great time. The experience surpassed all of my expectations and really did provided a lasting memory for both of us. Thank you very much!
Both my children attended this camp...
My son went to it for two years and had a ball (lol...so to speak) My daughter went last year as well. She now is at a different school that is in the same conference as OConnell so since you are OConnell affiliated...we are not sure we can attend...:) I just want to say my two children have played basketball since they were 8 or 9 and have attended MANY camps along the way, We started out with the local high school basketball camps to the five star camps, "insert basketball shoe name here" camps, and college camps but for BOTH my kids...no kidding... this was by far their favorite experience with the best memories. This was the first 'away from home for a week' experience for both of them (which I was a little trepid.. concerned about) but after a day I could hear the thrill and joy in their voices. My son went for two straight years..the first year we got a couple of other players from his AAU team to go to raise his comfort level but he came home saying that was not necessary cause he met soooo many new friends immediately. A lot of the kids that attend this camp are local DMV area kids who my children played against through the years and they formed bonds at this camp that lasted through high school as they played against them on other Varsity teams. My daughter is Facebook friends not only with all the friends she met but with the coaches as well who track her progress and still offer encouragement !! Just LOVE LOVED this camp...And by the way...the skill level is across the board for the players...no one judges you and they mix up the teams well. Great fundamentals, well run and just all around FUN ! So not only as a basketball camp but as a formulative life experience away from home, I would highly recommend this camp. I will be glad to talk to any parent that has concerns or questions.
from a single mom who has been doing this basketball thing all over the US. ...we were lucky to have found you right here close to home!!
!!
Cindy Vanderschaaf
Thanks Carol!!
Hope you are well! You may not remember me, but I sent my son, Sam, alone to camp two years ago and you were so kind and helpful to me when I was making that decision. He has returned each year with more and more of his friends (I think about 10 this year)!!
They have all enjoyed the program tremendously.
Again, thanks.
Lori Feitel
Carol,
I wanted to also comment to you that the camp seemed extremely well organized yesterday when I dropped my son and his friend off. I can imagine how much planning and effort goes into running a camp of that size, and just wanted to say that I was impressed yesterday with all of the staff that I met, etc. Good Job!!!
Ann
Thank you so much for the invitation to return to basketball camp. This is Albert's second summer attending the camp and I know he really enjoyed the adventure. I would like to thank the Wootten staff for providing an another great experience. I noticed that he was reading the report card from his coach and I had a chance to read it myself. The package was excellent. I was very impressed with coach's assessment of Albert's strengths and weaknesses. He was on-point for the most part which tells me that the coach was involved. An important quality of a good coach is when he can accurately identify his players' strengths and weaknesses. The appraisal was honest and thoughtful and the attachments were encouraging for a young man. I know that he will use the feedback from his coach to work on improvement. I also know he would return to camp this summer in a heartbeat, unfortunately, it is not in our budget to return this season. Albert starts Bishop Ireton in the fall...thus our budget. God willing, we will see you next summer.
Again, thank you for giving my son a memorable experience at Wootten Camp.
Yours truly,Josie Schibani
To Whom It May Concern:
My son, Cameron Heyder, just participated in session 1 (June 14-June 18). This was his first time going to an overnight camp, and his first time participating in Coach Wootten's camp. Cameron had an incredible week. He learned and practiced basketball skills, as well as had fun.
Yes, he was worked hard! However, Cameron also had a great time. I appreciate the fact that the staff members had a raised bar of expectation, but also guided my son on the correct path toward reaching that bar.
Thank you for having the boys from Alexandria Country Day School room together and be in neighboring rooms. Cameron not only saw peers of his from school, but also adults -- Mr. Tom Parisi and Mr. Miguel Palacio. I am certain that seeing familiar faces helped Cameron ease into camp.
I appreciate the organization of the: website, Sunday's check in, and Thursday's check out processes. The staff at Wootten's Camp is wonderfully positive and each staff member makes sincere efforts to connect with the campers.
Lastly, I want to thank you for upholding moral and ethical values through sportsmanship, integrity, and perseverance. Without a doubt, Cameron will be back next summer as well as my younger son who will participate for the first time. Please keep me on your email list.
Sincerely,
Kathy Heyder
Thanks for everything this week, my daughter Danielle had a wonderful time and it is obvious you run a terrific camp. She will be back next year for sure.
Cybele Cook
Carol,
We have these friends that have a place in the Yock in Oakland.
Their son attended the camp last week. He loved it. His favorite person was your brother, Joe.
We told them that we knew you and the family.
He said everyone there was so nice and the food was good and he learned a lot!
My son is 12 years old and attended your camp this past week, for the second time. He loved, loved it !!! The lessons taught seem to go beyond basketball and the court. He got up every morning to do the 6:00am workouts and when he got home yesterday he passed out. From laughing so much and talking so much he lost his voice. He absolutely worked his hardest and played his heart out.
Thank you
He will be back in 2010,
Susan Borup
(satisfied mom)
The camp was awesome. My son, Jeffrey McMorris, had a ball! You and your staff improved my son's game and even helped him begin an exercise and weight lifting regimen. ALL of the counselors were outstanding! I felt comfortable and at ease leaving him since this was his first time away from home.
Again, thank you for an awesome week and we'll see you next year!!!
May God richly bless you and your family for all you instill in the lives of children who love the game of basketball.
Sincerely,
Jameille McMorris
Coaches,
Our son Connor Hall had a wonderful experience at your camp the week of June 21. He loved the food and made many new friends. He wants to come again next year. His coach was “awesome,” he said. Thank you for giving our son a positive experience for which he can build upon.
Sherri Hall
To Whom It May Concern:
My grandson, Bailey Conrad, loved the camp and wants to return next year. From the little part I saw of the camp I think you folks do a great job. Thanks for providing this opportunity to parents and their young sons.
To Whom It May Concern:
My son, Zach Cummings, has been to several stay over basketball camps, and he said that this camp was the most well organized and run camp he’s ever been to. He was at a camp last summer, I won’t mention the coach’s name, but he won the 2002 NCAA Championship, and my son said that the coach would barely even attend the camp or talk to the campers. He mentioned that Coach Wootten (dad), saw him several times at the camp and spoke with him each time and asked him how things were going and was he having a good time. Not only will my son be attending the camp again next year, a good friend of mine is the commissioner of the Linganore Urbana Youth Athletic Association (LUYAA), in Frederick County, and I will tell him to highly recommend your camp to his coaches and have them recommend the camp to their players.
Again, thank you very much for the camp experience for my son.
Sincerely,
Steve Cummings
My son, Danny Lichter, returned home from camp last night exhausted and exhilarated all at once. This is our third year at Wooten and it his very favorite part of summer. You all do an extraordinary job with the kids!!
He was very proud to come home with 2 trophies, SEC 3-on-3 Champ and SEC Mr. Fundamentals. Tim Duncan is his all-time idol and he considered it quite an honor to share that title with him yesterday!! :)
One quick question, apparently yesterday he set his T-shirt down and someone else must have accidentally picked it up. Any chance you could mail us another? I would be happy to pay for it.
Thank you again for the week!! Session 2 was amazing!!
my son loves wootten camp, especially the exposure to D1 players and high school coaches and players. he wants to coach someday.
wayne cook
Daniel really enjoyed the camp. All went well. The feedback for him was helpful, not just 'he's great, all As, etc.' real substantial feedback.
Greetings
Micah came back very inspired, and is showing me all his new moves and shooting form. Thanks for the enthusiasm. He especially liked Dave Neal and the emphasis he placed on shooting form.
Blessings to all,
Dennis Loufik
Coach (Joe) Wootten, Thank you very much for holding another awesome camp for the girls. My daughter Liza Curcio loved the whole thing, from start to finish, especially your incredible staff (and especially Chris Harney). I could go on, I know you're busy, so thank you for doing something so hugely positive for the girls out there! Sincerely, Barry Rudy
Hi there:
Please thank Seth a million times for us. He is TERRIFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Max would not have made it into camp without Seth's guidance. He knew exactly what to say to get Max in the gym. You are right, he is wonderful!
We have not gotten too many calls from their cell phone. I am hoping no news is good news. If you hear anything...some positive news especially...we would love to hear.
Thanks for all your help too!
Warmly,
Kim Finkel

Carol Paul: Hi!!! I just want to tell you and your staff how wonderful your camp was last week for my son..Cody Fowler!!!! He is still talking about it today and can't wait to attend next year. I met some wonderful people myself, with my son being a commuter. Seth was in charge of Cody's group and was outstanding!!!What a GREAT MOTIVATOR!!!! and then there is Chris Harney, I can't say ENOUGH about him. He really reached out to make 4 boys from Calvert County get over being soooooooo homesick! After I mentioned it to him, Chris went above and beyond and made a lonesome experience and turned it into a wonderful time for those boys!!!! Please tell Chris and Seth .....as well as, all of your staff thank you very much for an AWESOME experience!!! Cody is looking forward to next year!!

Camp Wootten-
We wanted to let you know what a great time Dylan (Hale) had at camp. He especially spoke very highly about Coach Randel. Thanks to everyone for making the week a fun experience.
I would also like to thank Coach Wootten for taking immediate action when some of the boys got into Dylan's personal items. We appreciate all you did for him including doing his laundry in the middle of the night.
Thank you again and enjoy the rest of your summer.
The Hale Family
Terri,
I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks and happy 4th! You and your family are genuine and wonderful people. Thank you for all you do for those kids. Morgan said it best, ‘based on those campers, America is going to be in fine shape for years to come.
I feel so blessed to have been included in such a group of knowledgeable teachers and people of great character (some of whom are also “Characters”.
I’ll see you folks in October. I have a few coaches I am bringing with me to Fairfax/Arlington for the coaches clinic.
Regards,
Bill Watkins
Coaches,
My son, John Burke (rising 8th grade), had a fabulous time during week 2 of your camp. This was his first experience at an overnight camp, and it could not have been more positive. He had nothing but praises for his team coach and all the staff.
He also praised his dorm RAs.
He is back to reality with our local camp (McLean HS) and says it's nothing like the Wooten camp. I'm afraid we've hit the highpoint of his summer already. Even our week at Bethany Beach was boring to him!
John is signed up for the day camp at O'Connell and really looking forward to it.
Thank you for your dedication and hard work this summer. Please know that you are giving these youngsters the opportunity of a lifetime! We parents really appreciate it.
Sincerely,
John & Regina Burke
Dear Coach Wootten Camp Staff,
Our son Chris Wallace-Anthony attended the July 6 session (his first time) and we wanted to extend our thanks to the staff for a wonderful experience. The Wootten Basketball Camp is a total basketball training experience for young players - the best we’ve seen. I know that our son came out of camp with a new appreciation for the game, feeling like he had really learned things that will improve his skills/overall game and with a higher level of confidence in his ability to succeed in the sport and life.
The staff is so professional and just plain nice. We were made to feel welcomed and that it was important to you for our player to come out of the camp better than he was when he came. Things were organized, on time and well executed. We stayed the whole week so we had the opportunity to observe the everyday operation of the camp. These kids get the best of coaching from all over the country and the world – senior and on their own level via the camp coach/counselors who are up and coming young men themselves. The athletic trainers (medical staff) were great too making sure all the kids were cared for physically.
Morgan and Joe Wootten as well as their staff should be commended for the program you have put together. We look forward to making the Wootten Camp a continuous part of our player’s development. We can’t wait to come back next year.
Best regards,
Andre and Sharon Anthony
Coaches and staff,
My son Gregory and I really enjoyed attending and working at the camp this year. I do plan attend the Coahes' Clinic also! I am still sharing pointers with every kid I see bouncing a basketball !
Thanks again!

Joe,
My wife was floored when our 10 year old called home and said that your camp was the best that he’s been to. He’s been to several of the camps at local colleges and universities over the past three years. He’s been thrilled to have met and eaten lunch with several top NCAA players, including some that are now in the NBA. What was amazing was his statement that your camp is the best, because he’s learning so much. I’ll remind you, he’s 10 years old. He says that at the other camps you really just play a lot of games, but at Camp Wootten you really learn how to play and to do different moves. He really didn’t even mind the “Voluntary” 6:00 am sessions with Chris Harney. I guess it was voluntary for those campers that didn’t have a dad coaching at camp. He like feeling like a college kid walking around campus and hanging out at the student center with friends.
I was truly impressed as well with the detail that went into teaching the fundamentals. It was easy to coach the kids on the fundamentals, because you, your dad or one of the college coaches on the staff taught us how to teach them before you sent us out to teach them.
I have been doing my best to spread the word within the DC Assault organization as well as my son’s school about the quality of your camp. I’m looking forward to seeing you, Chris Harney, Scott McClary and the rest of the staff in the summer of ’08. I’ve been keeping in touch with a few of the other coaches since we left camp. The week spent with you guys in Frostburg was well worth the time and monetary investment for both L’il Kip and me.
Thanks for everything.

Hello, My son Eric has attended your camp for three years and just loves it. This year, unfortunately, he became sick at camp and I had to pick him up on Tuesday evening. I just wanted to say thank you for taking care of him. It was nice to see the camp in action when no other parents were around. All of the boys looked happy, even Eric looked comfortable fast asleep on the trainer's table. Everyone in the trainer's room was so kind. Thanks to Coach Wooten for remembering to give me Eric's camp shirt, which he proudly wore the next day. He was bummed when he heard his team did make it to the championship game (but lost). It was as always a great experience, even the shortened version!
Once again thanks for caring for Eric so well.
See you next year!

Hi Coach Morgan and Coach Joe-
I wanted to thank you and your team for making your camp an enjoyable one for my two sons, Andrew and Ben Castagnetti!
They attended camp July 6-10, 2008 and both had a wonderful experience! Both came away from camp inspired by you as well as your team and learned an important lesson not only about teamwork but also the importance of fundamentals.
We hope the rest of your seasons went well!
Thanks, again.
Ann & David Castagnetti
My son Jalen attended your camp the week of July 6 he was very excited to be there and I couldn’t wait to hear what he thought about the camp afterwards. Never the less he couldn’t stop talking about it he talked about the fact that he was moved up a division and was very happy about that, he talked about the campus, the food, he meet new friends that he still speaks with by phone but most of all he talked about how the coaches really took time with him and how he improved so much and finally about how much fun he had it was great to see him so exited and happy with his game. I just want to THANK all the coaches with the Wootten Staff you guys are great and Jalen can’t wait to return next year!!!!!
My two boys (age 12 and 15) LOVED their week at Session July 6-10. Super time!! Great schedule. Terrific coaches. They want to go again. We thought it was well-run. Great experience. Good luck through the rest of the summer.
Many thanks.
Nancy Miner
HI,
I have been meaning to send an email since Jesse returned on Sunday. I think the 5 days he spent at this camp made a very positive impression on him. He absolutely loved everything about his time with all of you. He felt the level of coaching was the best he has ever experienced; he was very moved by the speakers; he came home a bigger person in all of the positive ways.
Thank you so much for working your magic. I hope the effect carries on as I think it will.
Karen Simon
Dear Coach Wootten,
I want you to know that Tyler had a GREAT week at camp this year. He had such a positive experience and he absolutely loved his coach, Marcus Carmon. I met Marcus briefly at the conclusion of camp and I quickly understood why Tyler connected so well with him. He is mature, well-spoken, enthusiastic, a talented leader and he respects the fundamentals of the game. I couldn't have asked for a better coach and he definitely helped to make Tyler's week so much fun. Tyler is already talking about coming back next year. We'll look forward to following Marcus' career at O'Connell and reading about his accomplishments. He is definitely bound to be very successful.
Also, terrific idea having the campers photographed with you. I forgot to bring my camera the last day of camp and I was thrilled to see you took care of that for me.
Thanks for everything and we'll look forward to next year.
Sincerely,
Cindy Scanlon
Coach Joe,
Just wanted to drop a line to say thank you for another great week of camp. I brought my two boys plus two others from Lancaster Ohio and both of them said they want to come back next year. This was their first experience at and overnight camp and their parents told me they have not stopped talking about it. My son Sam had the best week of camp he could possibly have. We had just one minor setback. On Wednesday morning he dove for a ball and collided with another players knee which in turn caused a bloody nose. After visiting the trainer and talking with me we continued playing. On Friday morning we took him to the doctor and was sent to children’s hospital to see a specialist. This morning Sam had to have surgery to put everything back in place. His only commit was “ It was worth it all” The impact your staff has on these kids is out of this world. I am attaching a photo and maybe you will remember Sam. After seeing thousands of kids in a short period of time you’re not going to remember everyone. God bless and keep up the great work!

Hi Everyone at the Camp!
Our son just came back from his first time at Camp Wooten and he had a ball! It was a wonderful experience for him being that he went without knowing anyone and ended up making a lot of new friends. When he would call home with the cell phone that I left him, there were always a couple extra boys in his dorm room and they all sounded like they were having a blast. He also said that he had a super coach and is also very excited about the improvements he has made in his game and is looking forward to returning next summer.
My daughter (Caitlin Mahoney) had a fantastic time at the camp. She learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed the entire camp experience (once she got past the 1st night away from home). She will be attending again next year!!!!
Erin Mahoney
Coach Wooten and Staff,
Our daughter Grace had a GREAT time and she is already planning on next year. This was her first year and we are sure she is going to be back for many more years.
Great job by everyone in your organization!
Anton, Debbie and Grace Smoot
My girls thoroughly enjoyed the camp experience. Ashley McBride (granddaughter) is working hard daily on the feedback she was given. I appreciate the encouragement she was given . Despite her exterior, she is a shy girl who is unsure of her potential.
Bria Dawson is my grandniece. She is more experienced than Ashley and also more self assured about her ball handling expertise. She loves basketball but does not work as hard at it.
Both girls benefitted mightily from the camp
Coach Wootten,
My son Justin Shelby is finishing up his week at your camp. WOW! And then WOW again! I heard the camp was good, but you and your coach have exceeded my expectations for the week. Justin is a hard camper to please for basketball. Everything to him is ok or good, but this week his answers are “great” and “Dad, Dad watch this” He has been explaining what he has learned every night. Already he can’t wait for next year! He wants to do the overnight and daycamp. Once again thank you!
Bobby Shelby
Dear Carol,
Nishant had a great time at the camp.......a lifetime experience.
Thank you and all the staff for making this possible for him.
He is back very confident, well informed and more responsible in many ways.
Appreciate the care and the discipline with which the camp was organized and conducted,
the feedback report is so valuable and very encouraging...for him to excel in the sport
he is motivated to work towards coming next year !!!!!!
Do covey my appreciation to Coach Wootten, and each person in your team who are doing such a great job!!!
Attaching a little article designed by me ..... used in training my flight crew.
PS; Thank you for being patient with all my questions !!

I wanted to let you know that Aaron had a wonderful time at camp. He has been full of wise quotes and stories the past 24 hours. He has some sore feet and is tired, but says it is well worth it. He's already making plans for next year and wants to be a counselor some day. Thank you so much.

Coach –
My son Cameron and I recently returned from session #2 of your summer camp at FSU. We both had a wonderful time. Cameron has attended your day camp for the past 2 years (since he was 7) and we figured the time was right to send him to sleep away camp, but that I’d help ease his transition by offering to work as a counselor for this year. Although he was one of the youngest campers in the PAC-10 conference, Cameron had a blast and learned more about what it takes to be a
better player.
You and your staff do a great job at teaching the fundamentals. I learned many drills to use when coaching my son’s AAU team. But more importantly, I learned the importance of practicing the fundamentals, especially with younger players. Like many other coaches, I have a tendency to work on game preparation and strategy instead of spending enough time on basic skills development. This is going to change effective now.
I also want to take this opportunity to commend Dennis Hermosilla for helping to guide me through this first year as a member of the staff of your camp. He made it easy. It was all a bit overwhelming at the first Sunday meeting, but he led the way and brought it all together. Furthermore, the lunchtime sessions with Coaches Morgan and Joe Wooten were outstanding. I enjoyed listening to the stories and learning from the great teachers of the game.
We’ll be back next year!
Best of luck this season.
Ivan Galic
Thanks for a great week. Bobby especially liked the hands-on teaching demonstrations by the Woottens. He felt like he learned alot from their demos.

This was my son's [Justin "Buddy" Wilson] first time attending Coach Wooten's basketball camp. We had heard about the camp from some friends [Miles Taylor from St. Bernadette's]. I was a bit nervous as this was his first time away from home alone. I felt like crying when I left him on day 1 but when I called to check on him on day 2, he said "this is the best camp ever!". Needless to say, he and his brother will be back next year.
Thanks again,
Toni Wilson
My son has attended many camps, including **, however he loves your camp the best because he gets better every year. As parent, my money is spent at your camp because:
The staff really cares about the kids, the college set up from sleeping to eating makes the kids responsible, the amount of tie spent on basketball fundamentals (all kids learn the AND1 moves on their own, but never learn the basics), the reputation and quality instruction.
Father of 11 year old. . . .
I just wanted to send a quick note before summer got away from to let you know my son had the best experience at your camp. He has not gone to any “away” camps the last several years because he found a lot of them to be babysitting services for kids that have parents that work and not learning camps. His experience at your camp was totally different. He learned so much about basketball on the court and life off of the court. He is a better than average player and was challenged and learned a great deal. I am sure his team winning the championship game in his age group and Matthew making the All Start team helped with the fun and excitement but he said he learned so much at the camp it would have been great without all the extra fun! One thing that I was proud of an your camp and you should be also is Matthew and his friends said they enjoyed the guest speakers very much and found them to be inspirational. Mike Brey is special to us because we cheered for him at Delaware and hated to see him go. Please pass on to your dad that they boys enjoyed learning basketball from hi as well as life’s lessons. Matthew had the opportunity to meet his new high school principal this summer and afterward he said to me “Mom, I did what Coach Wootten told me to do, I looked him in the eye, shook his hand firmly and introduced myself”. I know Matthew is looking forward to returning next year. I just wish that he had found this camp earlier!!! I also wanted to let you know Matthew really enjoyed all the coaches. They can make or break a camp and they all did a great job.

My son, Jordan Mandel, attended the June 26-30 session of your overnight camp this summer, and had a great experience. He said the coaching was excellent and he was very inspired by the motivational talks. I can honestly say that I have never seen him so excited and energized by a camp experience before. His exact words were “that camp changed my life”. Your message about the importance of hard work, personal responsibility, good manners and the importance of making a good first impression really reached him. So I wanted to thank you and your counselors for putting on such an excellent program. Jordan will surely return to camp next year.

Just wanted to let you know that Sean really enjoyed camp this year. It seems to have paid off. . . in his first game back he scored 18 points and made 7 out of 8 of his free throws!
Mom of 15 year old. ..Lothian, Maryland
I just wanted to drop a short note to thank all concerned for the care and consideration shown to both my son and his friend while over in your camp during session 2. They had a fantastic time at the camp. The luxury of being able to sleep, play and talk basketball was a dream come true for themJ They learned a lot, met new friends. . just full of praise and are insisting that they are both going back next year. . so I guess that’s the biggest compliment you can get!
Mom of two campers. . . Scotland
I want to thank you for another great week of camp. Last year was my son’s first time to attend. What a difference one year makes! Sam had a great experience this year and LOVED his coach. Let Rockwell Moody know that he is a great influence for young kids and they truly look up to him (literally!) I also want to say thanks for all the great information you gave to us as coaches. I will definitely use the illustration bout all the offensive players hugging the defensive player they want guarding them. W are looking forward to next year. My daughter is now excited knowing that she will come to the first week. May you continue to be blessed with much success.

Coach Wootten & Staff,
This past week was my son, Dan's second year at your camp. I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful experience he had. He's always been a pretty good overall player but he really got a lot out of this past week....especially playing with some of the quicker more aggressive players. I've always believed that playing with better players elevates your game and this past week supported that theory. He really enjoyed himself, learned a lot and his team ( Arkansas) won trophies for winning their division championship and "21".
Thank you again for the great experience and also a special thanks to coach K ( Kenyamo McFarlane). He did a great job with the boys.
See you next year.
Sincerely,
John Bezold
All,
Cardinal basketball would like to thank you for a wonderful session of camp. My boys returned to the court on Tuesday and they continued to talk about their wonderful experience during camp. Their parents were truly satisfied. I also appreciate the information and advice you have provided, and the contacts you have shared with me. Please, a special thanks to Carol for all the help received prior to our arrival and throughout our stay.
We hope to see you next year.

Good morning Joe.
Stevon and I had a great time at camp. We appreciated everything, and the experience will definitely change his and my approach to basketball as well as life itself.
Thank you and the entire Wootten Camp staff for a fun and educational week.
Sincerely,

Carol (and Sarah and Joe):
Thank you for everything! You have no idea how much we appreciate your tending to our guy. No wonder the Wootten family and friends are always associated with winning -- in the purest sense of the concept.
You all are the best.

Hello. I just wanted to thank you once again for allowing me the opportunity to send my son to your camp this year. I don’t know that I have seen him enjoy something so much. He has already asked to come back next year. He truly had a great time doing what he loves. Not to mention making a ton of new friends. You and the staff are great and I appreciate everything you did for us this summer. Keep up the great work and we will see you again next summer!

I just wanted to write camp and thank you for a wonderful camp, week 2for my son PJ!! We went on vacation last week and this is all he has talked about. He was in Big 10 and loved Coach Harney! He played on St. Mary's and we would love to get a schedule from Coach Harney and follow up with one of his games. He and us loved that Coach Morgan Wootten was on sight and involved in the everyday activities of camp. PJ called home one night and was so excited to see Coach Wootten actually
sleeping in the dorms with the campers. I also wanted to thank the young women in the office, Kristen - she was very helpful with a small minorpro blem I had w/rooming and my payment the week before. It was a great experience and we will be back next year!!
Thank you - Mrs. Hefner & PJ
I want to tell you that my son, Jason Seinfeld, and two of his friends, Alex Salinas and Andrew Tuholski THOROUGHLY enjoyed your camp! The day after they got home, they got together and practiced some of the drills the learned. I think that speaks volumes about your camp- just the right balance of motivation, challenge, and fun! Thanks again for a good experience.
Jennifer Seinfeld
My husband and I would like to thank the members of your staff who helped us yesterday during a time of crisis. We were travelling to camp from Salisbury, Maryland, when our transmission went up outside of Hancock, just off Rt. 68. Stranded with 3 boys anxious to get to camp, we were desperately trying to make arrangements. After a half hour arranging a tow, and no luck getting a rental, we called the camp to see if your bus transportation was in the area. My husband explained our situation to someone on your staff and they contacted the bus driver. He had made his last pick up in Frederick and was 10 minutes away. He graciously agreed to pick up our boys along the side of the road. What a wonderful sight that bus was when it arrived to save our day! You truly have a dedicated staff. My husband and I were still awaiting the tow and the uncertainty of how we were going to get home, but we did rest assured that the boys were in good hands. Thank you for coming to our rescue!
Sincerely,
Lisa Hickman
Camp Staff,
I would just like to take the time to let you know what a wonderful thing you all have going. From office to trainers to coaches to admin, everything. Out camp experience for my family and for my son was wonderful.
Our camp registration started out rough, my son owed a balance, I had already sent a check, his med forms weren't there, I had faxed them. I was so upset at first, no other camp would have taken the time to be patient with me and help me through the process.
I went to the help desk, Carol & Kristen both helped me feel better. I checked my son in and I want you to know the next two days I spoke with Kristen on the phone twice a day bc I was so worried about my check clearing again!! She assured me it wouldn't and it didn't, she sent it back voided. I want you to know that she was friendly and very helpful, where I have dealt with other office camps, and they have been annoyed I was even calling.
Next, the trainers, with my sons med records not there. I talked to Jamila Sunday and on Monday, she is a dear. She made me feel better and with a trainer like that on staff, I felt assured my son would be fine.
Next, the coaches and head people, my son was in Big 10, with Head Guy: Chris Harny. Let me tell you that the man is wonderful. So full of energy and so great with the kids. I have to be honest, my son is still talking about him. If you could let us know, where he coaches, I would love to take my son there to see a game this season.
We also had a dorm problem, and Joe Wootten and Scott at the dorms were both very helpful. Joe was very patient with all the people gathered around him, he never raised his voice. Scott, explained a few things to us about the week, etc. and made my husband and I feel much more at ease about leaving our son. I'm sorry I didn't get his last name.
I know you may be bored in reading this, but I want you to know what could have been a bad experience bc of mail, faxes, rooms, etc., turned out to be a wonderful experience bc of your staff. You can tell from the outside looking in, that you have a great thing going with a great staff. I'm sure you get lots of emails, bad and good, but I am so happy with Coach Wootten's Camp and we can't wait til next year! And, please let your staff in this letter know that they are appreciated & thanked.
“Coach Wootten, I just wanted to send a quick note to thank you for providing such a fun basketball camp. My 3 children have attended your camp for 8 years now. Our oldest can’t seem to get enough of it and looks forward every summer. And now my youngest is hooked also. Great teaching, great games, etc.etc. Thank you again for such a positive learning environment! We can’t tell you how much we appreciate everything you do for the youth of Northern Virginia.”
