1961Coach Morgan Wootten and Coach Joe Gallagher started the Metropolitan Area Basketball School. (our day camp) It was held at St. John’s High School in Washington, DC.

  • three leagues (junior / intermediate / senior) were started
  • the infamous Zagnut show was established
  • orange drinks became a staple in the cafeteria
  • Joe Gallagher’s all tournament shot was introduced
  • Coach Wootten’s half court shot was perfected

1973 – A week for girls was added

1984 -  Coach Wootten, along with Coach Jim Phelan and Coach Bill Sheehan, started 3 (2 boys / 1 girls) weeks of overnight camp at Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland

1987 – The overnight camp was expanded to 6 (4 boys / 2 girls) weeks

?? - The day camp moved to Takoma Academy in Takoma Park, Maryland

1999 – The overnight camp moved to Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland under the direction of Coach Morgan Wootten and Coach Joe Wootten

2001 - The day camp moved to O’Connell High School in Arlington, Virginia

2006 – The overnight camp expanded to five weeks (one week for girls and four weeks for boys)
